Client Review

Hands down the best lawyer. Mr.Cannon accepted my case and got on it the same day. I would give him 10 stars if I could. I really appreciate the dedication on how he handles things with a short time frame. – CHRIS

Oklahoma law requires any person with a suspended or revoked driver’s license to complete an Alcohol/Drug Assessment and Chemical Dependency. The outcome of the assessment will determine the treatment plan you are required to complete for your criminal case.

Facing a DUI or drug charge can affect multiple aspects of your life, including your freedom, finances, and your future. Completion of the appropriate treatment program will benefit your defense and your future.

The first step to help your DUI or drug charges in Oklahoma is to hire an experienced Oklahoma criminal defense attorney. Cannon Law Firm is dedicated to Fierce Advocacy for those facing DUI or drug prosecution. Once you have hired an Oklahoma Criminal Defense Attorney, you can begin to build your defense and tell your story.

Chemical Dependency Assessment

The first step in completing the requirements of treatment or counseling related to alcohol or drug abuse in a criminal case is obtaining a comprehensive assessment. Once the assessment is completed you will be referred to the appropriate intervention. The intervention available generally consists of the following: Victim Impact Panel, ADSAC, residential treatment, and aftercare.

Follow this link for a complete list of State Certified ADSAC Assessors.

What to expect in DUI ADSAC?

Although, there are variations between some DUI ADSAC assessments, you should expect the following in every DUI assessment: honestly answer questions about your offense; pay a $160 assessment fee; receive a personal written recommendation; credentials of the DUI ADSAC assessor; a face-to-face clinical interview; receive at least three (3) outside referral options; and to complete the recommended plan and return it to the assessor.

Victim Impact Panel

In Oklahoma, the Victim Impact Panel (“VIP”) is designed to show participants the collateral effects of drinking and driving. Speakers attend the event and explain how drunk driving has affected their lives or the lives of those close to them. VIP serve all 77 counties in the state of Oklahoma.

Anyone charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol (“DUI”), Drugs (“DUID”), Actual Physical Control of a Motor Vehicle (“APC”), and other alcohol-related crimes will be court-ordered to attend a victim impact panel as a condition of probation for their DUI or similar case.

DUI School

All Alcohol/Drug Assessment and Chemical Dependency courses (“ADSAC”) consist of ten or twenty-four hours of classroom work addressing the risks associated with alcohol or drug abuse, especially when driving a vehicle. There are multiple ADSAC courses available across Oklahoma and they are sometimes referenced as DUI School.

In DUI cases involving serious injury or aggravated alcohol consumption, you may be required to attend/complete in patient treatment for alcohol or drug dependency.
